Puerto Rico--Archives #1

On the heels of Carrie's Northeastern trip, I thought I would turn 180 degrees South and bring to light the trip that Marc and I took at the end of May.  Marc's sister and brother-in-law very graciously invited us to Puerto Rico to spend a jam packed, fun filled 9 days with them.  We traversed a good part of the Island, seeing and experiencing a pretty decent amount of the Puerto Rican culture.  It was definitately an eye opening adventure!  I love how when you get out of your own little bubble, and experience other worlds, other languages, other people, you broaden and grow and change.

The lovely short building in the middle, is Bill and Kim's abode....

....a stones throw away from this--

Bill and Kim often walk the short distance to the ocean in the mornings, with their cup of coffee in hand, to enjoy this wonderful view.  You just cannot get much better than this.
The streets of Condado, where Bill and Kim live while in Puerto Rico.  Lovely. (Please forgive me for the many pictures of iron work I will be showing.  It can't be helped...)

And the prize of this first morning...and the first of many....

Yes, we ate this for breakfast.  We did manage eggs and toast too (like that even mattered).
First of the many firsts of this new land, was spelunking!  Now this was nothing dangerous, or foolish, but new, fun and full of possibilities! Decending down into a dark, slippery (it was drizzling) hole into the ground was a new for us.  True, it was comforting knowing that Bill and Kim had been here, done that, but still, you just never quite knew what you'd encounter once you began....

These were the holes that we came back out of after exploring cave #2.  Kim, turns out, is always up for  an adventure.  If something catches her eye, swhoosh, she's gone, and it's up to you to stay up.  This is a good thing.  You see more this way. :)     to be continued......

  1. Very cool! I have never been to Puerto Rico so this is very fun to see the terrain there - who knew?? I thought everything was flat and beachy! Now when Bill and Kim are down there, I can picture how they have to "rough it" (wink, wink) ~ thanks for sharing!!

  2. Wow! I can't believe how close they live to the beach! I can see why they like it there. I'm excited to see all your pics from there!
